2)  Roman Numerals

     What number expressed in Roman Numerals will the letters V I X make when looked                at in a mirror?

 

3)  Bookworm

     Two volumes of a thousand pages each are arranged properly in a bookcase. Each                    volume is 2 inches thick, including the covers, each of which is one-eighth of an inch                thick. If a bookworm eats his way from page 1, volume 1, to page 1000, volume 2,                      what distance does he travel?

 

4)  Height

     A is 5 inches taller than B. C is 5 inches shorter than A. What is C’s height in relation to B’s?

 

5)  Follow-the-Leader

     There were a group of boys on bicycles playing follow-the-leader. There were 4 boys in          front of a boy, 4 boys behind a boy and a boy in the middle. How many boys were there            altogether?

 

6)  Area = Perimeter

     Can you find a square and a rectangle that have perimeters equal to their areas?

     (perimeter is the total distance around the edge, area = length x width )

 

7)  Boys and Girls

     A class of school children go on a field trip and sit in groups of 4 so that every girl sits next      to at least one other girl. How many permutations are possible?

 

8)  Sequences

     Can you find the next number in this sequence?

9)  Percentage

     Which percentage is closest in value to 1/3?
